ANNUAL CONFERENCE SUBCOMMITTEE
This Subcommittee is responsible for
planning the NPA Annual Conference which brings together entities in the
State that work is or with electricity and promotes the objectives of the
Association. The 1st Vice President serves as chair of this Subcommittee.
COMMUNICATION SUBCOMMITTEE
This Subcommittee maintains communications within the industry, with
the public, and with various government agencies. This Subcommittee creates
and disseminates information to these groups via press releases and reports,
with the objective of enhancing goals of the Association. This Subcommittee
shall carry out such other assignments as directed by the Board of Directors.
ENVIRONMENTAL SUBCOMMITTEE
This Subcommittee monitors and analyzes environmental issues being debated
at the federal and state levels that have potential impact on the electric
power industry in Nebraska, and recommends positions on these issues for
consideration by the NPA Board of Directors.
JOINT PLANNING SUBCOMMITTEE
This Subcommittee coordinates all plans for new power facilities (generation
and transmission) involved in supplying Nebraska consumers, in accordance
with the policies and objectives of the Association. This Subcommittee
takes responsibility for completing statutorily-mandated power supply
planning reports for the Power Review Board, and carries out such other
assignments as directed by the NPA Board of Directors. This Subcommittee
is also responsible for preparing a compilation of all electric utility-sponsored
activities in Nebraska dealing with research, development, conservation,
and alternate energy sources as required by State of Nebraska statutes.
Where appropriate, and at the direction of the Board, this Subcommittee encourages and promotes research and development that allow electric utilities to better and more efficiently serve consumers, disseminate information, and encourage consumers to implement conservation or utilize alternate energy sources when feasible.
LEGAL SUBCOMMITTEE
This Subcommittee examines current legal issues
being debated at the local, state, and federal levels, and assesses their
impact on the electric industry in Nebraska. In addition, this Subcommittee
shall assist and support the Legislative Subcommittee of the Nebraska Power
Association in analyzing proposed industry legislation. Additionally, the
Legal Subcommittee shall carry out such other assignments or requests as
directed by the Board of Directors.
LEGISLATIVE SUBCOMMITTEE
This Subcommittee monitors all proposed legislation that may affect
suppliers of electricity in the State and attempts to eliminate differences
within the industry on proposed legislation, with the goal of presenting,
on behalf of the industry, a clear solution to the Legislature. The Subcommittee
shall submit a report on all proposed legislation that may affect suppliers
of electricity in the state to Nebraskans to the Board of Directors, stating
the position of the Subcommittee and the reason for the position. This
report shall not be submitted to any other agencies or groups, members
of the Legislature, or the general public. This report must be acted upon
by a majority of all the Subcommittee members (or their proxies). Additionally,
the Subcommittee shall not submit any decision, report, or action of the
Subcommittee to any other agencies or groups, members of the Legislature,
or the general public, which has not first been submitted to and approved
by the Board of Directors.
